Why is it that even Win98's MEM can't properly show memory above 64M? Is there anything that works normally?

That MEM can show it under pure DOS.

This isn't MEM being abnormal. The memory in a DOS box under pwin98 is different from memory in normal DOS. That is a simulated DOS environment. MEM is accurately reflecting the memory situation of that simulated environment.

Of course this is abnormal. Total can't possibly be smaller than free. If so, then used would have to be negative?

Michael: actually, you only need to enable the "Prevent MS-DOS-based programs from detecting Windows" option in the "DOS window properties", then MEM will be the same as under pure DOS.
