WINDOWS9X is basically DOS
It just uses a GUI, a few drivers, and compatibility with 32-bit applications, that's all. Replies welcome |

Isn't every system like that? Linux too is just a kernel plus a shell. Win3.2 even more so, XP is pretty much the same too,

Win9x is a 32-bit GUI program under DOS, making the DOS world richer and more powerful。。Also, if the X-WIN GUI could run under DOS too, then。。

windows9x is not completely DOS, it just starts normally
through DOS, if in safe mode, then it is completely 32-bit. However, Window9x indeed contains DOS7.0 + Windows4.0 |

Win9x is completely DOS! As for the 32-bit part, it uses DOS's DPMI function to enter DOS's 32-bit protected mode state. But no matter how it enters, or how Win9x packages itself, that is still DOS.

Windows and UCDOS+UCSHELL+TW are pretty similar in function. Using UCSDK+VB1 for DOS, you can still develop very good UCDOS software~
As for DOS32 8.0, I find that FreeDOS32 is better than it. |

Hopeless, how could that be possible? Microsoft just mixed 16-bit and 32-bit programming, that's all.

9x made use of DOS programming; it is a graphical operating system written on top of DOS. Likewise, it used DOS mode
