format does not have a /autotest parameter.

format does have the /autotest parameter, but you can't unconditionally format drive C from the command line in WINDOWS (assuming WINDOWS is installed on C), and the reason is very simple: WINDOWS will protect itself and refuse to let itself be formatted. But a non-system drive is fine (that is, WINDOWS is not on that drive).
If you do it under pure DOS, this won't happen. |
