It makes my teeth itch with anger. No matter how many times I test it, it just won't give me any face. Here's the situation: when I run the EXT command on the hard disk to extract files, everything is normal, but when I burn it to a boot disk and then run the EXT command【all executable files are in the root directory, no archives involved】at the end when it asks you Y-N, I press Y and Enter and it gives this prompt GENERAL FAILURE WRITING DRIVE A
ABORT, RETRY, FAIL? If there happens to already be a file with the same name on drive C, it will still go through the motions of asking whether to overwrite it, but if I choose overwrite it still gives the above prompt, NND. What is most unbearable is that when I saw it couldn't run on the CD, I settled for the next best thing and switched to the hard disk to run it. Hey, it still wouldn't work, same prompt again. I have to reboot【only when booted from the hard disk can it run normally】. Could some expert please point this out for me. The WIN98CAB files I want to extract are all on the hard disk, say in a directory called 98 on drive E. After booting with my homemade boot CD, at A:\ I type EXT and press Enter, enter E:\98 and press Enter, then enter the file to extract such as FDISK.EXE and press Enter, then enter d: and press Enter, then a Y/N comes up, I press Y and Enter, and then the problem I mentioned appears. 【The above steps all work normally and extract correctly if I boot from the hard disk and use EXT on the hard disk】If I boot from the CD and operate EXT on the CD, the problem appears, and then even switching to the hard disk and running it there still doesn't work. Also I found that as long as I boot from the CD, then switch to the hard disk that has EXT and EXTRACT and run them directly, that still doesn't work either!! The EXT and EXTRACT files on the CD are absolutely fine. Please advise, thanks

The following is quoted from zl7322's post at 2003-8-3 22:26:20:

Question: how do I copy them into memory? Do I need to make a virtual disk or something? Thanks

After booting from the CD, drive A is not a floppy drive, it is read-only. You can only write to it if you virtualize a partition.
