I want to ask about DOS LAN issues
Right now I’m using something like this: a 586 running a DOS system with an 8029 network card, but it can only connect to some Windows 2000 systems using old 10M network cards. (1) Can a 586 computer use an 8139 or other 10M/100M adaptive network card? I mean whether the hardware is compatible. (2) Besides 2000 systems, can a DOS system connect to an XP system? (3) If the 2000 or XP side uses a 10M/100M network card, can DOS still connect to it? (3) What is the simplest way to load drivers for those relatively new network cards under a DOS system? Annoying, this stuff is just hard to get working Does any expert here have experience with it Please introduce it a bit |
