I want to ask about DOS LAN issues
Right now I’m using something like this: a 586 running DOS, with an 8029 NIC, but it can only connect to some Windows 2000 systems using old 10M NICs.
(1) Can a 586 computer use an 8139 or other 10M/100M adaptive NIC, I mean whether the hardware is compatible
(2) Other than Windows 2000, can a DOS system connect to an XP system
(3) If the Windows 2000 or XP side uses a 10M/100M NIC, can DOS still connect to it
(3) What is the simplest way to load drivers for those relatively new NICs for a DOS system
Annoying, this stuff is just hard to deal with
Does any expert have experience with this
Please introduce it
