This afternoon I burned the modified <> to a disc for testing (it passed in the virtual machine), but unexpectedly it wouldn't boot. Because there were too many changes, I couldn't tell what the problem was at first, so I compared it with the previous version and ruled things out one by one...
After burning it no less than ten times (the burner was practically smoking ^^), guess what happened? Switching EMM386.EXE back to UMBPCI.EXE fixed it.... I'm dizzy....
I changed it because everyone said EMM386.EXE had better compatibility....

And that's not all. I took it to test on someone else's machine (CII900+815 system), and unexpectedly it still wouldn't pass with UMBPCI.EXE. Out of several machines, this is the only one that won't pass even with UMBPCI.EXE; do I really have to load no memory management tool at all....

If anyone has a good solution, say something....
(I used EasyBOOT3.5 to make a multi-boot disc, maybe it's an EasyBOOT problem, but it would be best if this could be solved with some other memory management software)

Then it's still best to use the method I used in the Super MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk I made, namely the dual-boot EMM386 and UMBPCI method!

Wengier, using your disc won't work either, because on that machine it won't pass no matter whether EMM386 or UMBPCI is loaded; it can only load HIMEM.SYS....

On the multi-boot CD I made with EasyBOOT3.5, the dozen or so boot items that use EMM386.EXE can all boot normally.
I've tested it on quite a few machines and had no problems, including machines without hard drives.
So your problem has nothing to do with EasyBOOT3.5.
I wonder what you used to make your IMG file?

I used winimage. The reason yours works is that you just haven't run into a machine like this. I tested five machines, and only one wouldn't pass with UMBPCI; EMM386.EXE won't pass on my own machine, so I ruled it out without even trying other machines ^^

Just because your machine doesn't work, does that mean other machines definitely won't work either!
My machine just can't use UMBPCI and can only use EMM386,
so what about that!
You should still test more!

Man, if a boot disk you made yourself can't be used on your own machine, that's really frustrating....
But the one I upload will still be kept, so everyone can modify it according to their own situation...

Even if loading UMBPCI.SYS doesn't work, it will skip it automatically anyway, so it won't affect the next step of operation..

That might happen with a single boot, but I'm using EasyBoot3.5 to make a multi-boot disc. I've done many real-machine tests, and it really doesn't work; it stops right after executing the first line of AUTOEXEC.BAT. As for why it executes one line, I don't know either..
@echo off
echo Loading...
