The WinXP CDs I bought are all without SP1. I tried the method from godant and sensen's FTP, but the final file count is never the same... I managed to find six XP discs in total, but still couldn't successfully make WinPE.
If I ignore this mismatch and make the CD directly, after the WinXP boot interface it reports an error: STOP: c0000218 unknown Hard Error Unknown Hard Error It's the same both in VPC and on an actual disc burned with NERO. I followed the instructions in the FTP provided by godant and sensen strictly step by step. Could it be that the pirated WinXP discs sold in Fuzhou just can't be used to make WinPE? Could any expert provide a usable WinXP download address? |

Original genuine WinXP installation disc (without SP1), size: 530186240 bytes. Check the size of your WinXP disc.

Also, if you use the WINDOWS XP OEM Preinstallation Kit to make winpe, in the end it will say two files are missing, netcfg.exe and factory.exe.
You can copy these two files from 预安装软件包\tools\x86 to \i386\system32\. |

I'll go take a look first.
The ones I bought are all pirated copies, with a bunch of keygens and stuff inside. I don't know whether that would make a difference. Those discs are actually all labeled SP2 or SP4 and so on. I can't find the SP1.CAB file in the I386 folder, so I figure they probably don't have SP1 integrated. |

I found a WINXP.ISO, size 590610432 bytes. Think it'll work?

That one probably won't work, don't use a cracked version.
Search at the website I gave, there are a lot of them. The byte count must match exactly. Some download very fast. That's how I got the genuine disc too. |

But I can only try it tomorrow, the broadband at home is down today, and then my cellphone got lost too... I'm dizzy! By the way, the size of the WinXP installation file you mentioned is 530186240 bytes, so is that installation file an ISO, or some other format? |
