If you boot directly to run some DOS games, almost 80% of them will report insufficient memory!
This flaw is a bit too, well, “that,” isn’t it? Can anyone make a boot disk with enhanced memory? |

That’s not extended memory, but conventional memory! The main thing is that some boot disks are only for demonstration purposes and not for actual use, so they weren’t configured much. If you want a truly practical boot disk, then try my Super MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk, and you won’t have this problem.

I don’t know why! I used your Super 7.10 boot disk to boot, and still couldn’t run those high-memory games!
Could it be that old DOS doesn’t support 512MB SDRAM? I heard there is a kind of problem where if the physical memory is too large, DOS thinks the main memory is very small, and you have to modify some file to specify the memory... I’m not very clear on the exact situation either! Most people’s memory now is 512MB-1G anyway... |

There are two possibilities:
1: No EMS memory. Some old games need EMS memory, but current DOS boot disks do not provide it, first because it is rarely used, and second because it can cause other trouble. 2: There is a problem with the game itself! No matter how large the physical memory is, it will not cause DOS itself to think the main memory is very small, but it may cause some individual old DOS games to think the main memory is very small, for example the famous “Chinese Paladin”. But there is a solution for this. |

It seems Rich3 requires DOS 6.22
Can you make a boot disk with a choice between 6.22 + 7.10 at boot? |

The following is quoted from arucard’s post at 2003-7-29 22:30:31: Impossible! I have always run Rich3 under MS-DOS 7.10, and have never had any problem! If there is a problem, then it is caused by the settings in the configuration files (such as CONFIG.SYS etc.), and has nothing to do with the system itself.. |

The following is quoted from arucard’s post at 2003-7-30 7:07:22: How exactly are you running it? Where did you download it from? |

I burned your super boot disk onto a CD! Booted from the CD-ROM drive and chose the first EMM386 one!
After booting finished, running play。bat gives an error! It reports a DOS version error! The rich3 folder is in the root directory of drive C! |

Does RICH3 check the DOS version?? No way... Anyway, my RICH3 has never done that.
If it really does need to check the version, that is easy too: just use commands like DOSVER (it’s on that super boot disk) or SETVER to set the version number, and there is no need to actually switch DOS at all. |

After loading it, the DOS version error no longer appears! But then it reports a rich3 memory address error...
When it rains, it pours! |

The following is quoted from arucard’s post at 2003-7-30 20:34:42: I guess there is something wrong with this RICH3 (because my RICH3 does not have this problem). Please upload one or give me a download link so I can take a look.. |
