I use command-line mode under DOS to load the NIC driver. At first, loading pcidet.dos succeeded, but when loading protman.dos right after that, it always gives the error message "Memory allocation failed, system halted".
Command line:
autoexec.bat:
device \net\pcidet.dos
device \net\protman.dos /L:net

You can use device /? to check its usage parameters.

Thanks, if it really had that switch that would be great, but unfortunately it doesn't. I've already tried /help, -help, ?, /h, and so on.

The parameters after device.com must be in uppercase letters!

I've tried both uppercase and lowercase. What I want is to understand how to use device's parameters.

Then use a text editor to open it and take a look!
Although there will be quite a bit of garbled text,
you can still see quite a lot of English in it!

I've already looked through it all, nothing there. Actually what I want to do is this:
During startup I want to first copy the necessary drivers into the RAMDRIVE, and then load them in config.sys with the device= command (I want to make a bootable CD, but since writing to disk is needed during loading, using the A: drive definitely won't work, so I can only put them in a virtual drive). Unfortunately that won't work. The virtual drive can only do copying or extracting in autoexec.bat, and then it can't load drivers anymore.

Then use wrapper.sys in config.sys to copy the driver into the RAMDRIVE, and then load it in config.sys with the device= command...

That doesn't seem like it'll work... because wrapper.sys has bugs, and there may be problems when doing these complicated operations...

For example, if you use wrapper.sys in config.sys to load the CCDOS97 Chinese character support system, this can be done on a hard drive, but what about on a floppy disk...

wrapper.sys? How do you use it? (I can't use the forum's search function. As soon as I use it, it says I'm not logged in, and after logging in again it still says I'm not logged in.) For example, if I have these 3 lines in config.sys:
device=\pcidet.dos
device=\protman.dos /I:\net
device=\dis_pkt.dos
How do I copy them into the virtual drive and load them?
