The Win98 installation files include smartdrv.exe. When you enter setup, it will automatically run smartdrv.

Right, the WIN98 installation files do have that file, so there's no need to load it. As for whether GHOST will be a bit faster after loading it, from what I've tried, there doesn't seem to be much difference. I think what matters more for GHOST's speed is the version. GHOST2003 is really quite fast, recommended.

It still helps a lot! It's just that it doesn't really know how to load it! If you only use smartdrv.exe, it will only load 256KB of cache, so of course the speed won't change much! You need smartdrv.exe 16000 which means specifying a 16MB cache, and then the speed will obviously improve! It's best to load it twice, that is, load it once in CONFIG with driver＝ and then load it again in AUTOEXEC.bat, that way it will be even faster! When loading it in AUTOEXEC.bat, it's best to do it after the CD-ROM driver is loaded, so that the CD-ROM can also use the high-speed cache!
