Open a section for using DOS to repair Windows that won't boot!
I study DOS so I can maintain Windows better. I compare DOS to a bicycle and repair tools, and Windows to a motorcycle. For my daily commute, of course I would ride the faster and prettier motorcycle; only when the motorcycle won't start would I have no choice but to ride the bicycle. I think quite a few people feel this way!But there are too few articles on the forum about using DOS to repair Windows that won't boot, and when Windows goes on strike, it often leaves some friends who don't understand DOS (I'm one of them) completely helpless! I've been hanging around this forum for a long time, and although I've learned some DOS knowledge, when Windows goes on strike I'm still often powerless! At the same time, we make boot disks in order to maintain computers, and boot disks really are everywhere, with lots of functions too! But how many people can actually use those functions, and how many really understand them?

Open a section for using DOS to repair Windows that won't boot! What do you think?

This belongs to part of "Question and Answer." Posts of this type should be made in the "DOS Questions / Difficult Problem Discussion" section. It doesn't seem necessary to open a separate section for it (after all, it is not very beneficial to the development of DOS).

There are many purposes for making DOS boot disks. For example, it may be to create a super DOS platform and make DOS more powerful, rather than merely *limiting it* to one particular function, such as Windows maintenance!

The following is quoted from what Wengier said on 2003-7-26 20:05:43:

The moderator responded very quickly! What he said also makes sense, but the moderator's view that using "DOS to maintain Windows" is not very beneficial to the development of DOS seems a bit subjective(after all, it is not very beneficial to the development of DOS). Actually, we cannot deny the power of DOS, but still less can we deny the ease of use of Windows. If Microsoft were still developing DOS, Microsoft would have closed down long ago. Looking around the world, how many people are not using Windows? If DOS couldn't be used to maintain Windows, I wouldn't even bother learning DOS at all (of course, this is only my personal view). I can't stand the screen resolution under DOS!
I think if a "DOS Repairs Windows" section were opened, it would probably be very popular!
DOS would say to Windows: "Kid, you say I'm outdated, but when you're sick you still need me to treat you! You'd better not let the patient act fiercer than the doctor, otherwise—"

Those who support opening a "DOS Repairs Windows" section, please speak up!

I think repairing Windows should also count as an important part of DOS.
However, opening a completely new section is something that should be done cautiously, and besides, the main purpose of China DOS Union is to develop DOS and promote DOS, not simply to boost popularity.
I hope all friends will give their opinions. China DOS Union has only come this far because of everyone's support, and as for the direction it takes in the future, please join in the discussion too!
