Tried for many days, and found that Mac OS 8.6_EN, MacOS 8.1CHS, Mac OS 9.0.4_EN are easy to install on SheepShaver; MacOS 8.6CHS cannot be directly installed, but can be "reinstalled"; MacOS 9.0CHS is a recovery disk, and SheepShaver thinks the emulator's configuration is incorrect, and cannot be installed. Has anyone successfully tried it?

Hello Yulu Banban, I wonder if you are using SheepShaver_GUI (the GUI setup program for SheepShave). I also found the same error when loading the Mac OS 9 operating system. Using text mode editing, the problem is resolved!

First, prepare the Mac OS 9.0.4 ISO and place it in the SheepShaver program directory.
First, download the GTK+ Lib to ensure that the SheepShaverGUI configuration program can run.

Then run SheepShaverGUI. Directly write the ISO file name in the CDROM Path, and do not use the virtual drive to mount the subsequent drive letter.
In the GUI configuration, select Memory/Misc, and select the path of the Mac OS ROM in the ROM File.
If there is no ROM, you can download this package, which contains Mac_OS_ROM

The recovery package for version 9.0 Chinese edition is actually easy to install.
Open the "Configuration" folder of the CD, double-click the disk image icon to mount the image.
The image will appear on the desktop. After opening, drag all the contents in the image to the hard drive where you want to install. Mac OS is so magical. As long as there is a valid system folder, it can boot, no matter which folder on the disk it is placed in.
After completion, exit the emulator, take out the CD and then start the emulator to finish the installation.
