I'm using WIN2000
For a while recently I don't know what's going on it just won't shut down Before shutting down I disconnect from the network but it always prompts End Program iexplore.exe asking me whether I want to end it immediately but even if I click End Now it still won't shut down Every time I can only restart and then shut down or force it to shut down Only occasionally, when I've only been on for a short while, it can shut down but even then I have to wait a long time before it shuts down 55~ what's going on? Can you help me? |

Maybe it's a power supply problem

Before shutting down the system, have you already exited all running programs?

This may have two possible reasons
1,the problem is with the motherboard... 2,a problem with the system's power management settings |

The following is part of the troubleshooting content:
Do you really need to update the sound card driver? Note The following procedure requires you to restart the computer. If you are using a sound card based on the C-Media CMI8330 chip and have not updated the sound card driver, an error message may appear when shutting down Windows 98. To fix this error, install an updated driver for your sound card. You can get the driver from the sound card manufacturer or visit the C-Media Web site. After installing the new driver, disabling the sound card in Safe Mode can prevent the shutdown error message. Note Web addresses may change, in which case you may not be able to connect using the Web address mentioned here. To disable the sound card in Safe Mode Restart the computer. Hold down the CTRL key while the computer starts. Select “Safe mode” from the “Startup” menu. Click “Start”, point to “Settings”, then click “Control Panel”. Double-click “System”. Click the “Device Manager” tab. Double-click “Sound, video and game controllers” to expand the list. Click “sound card”, then select the “Properties” button. Click the “Driver” tab. Click the “Driver File Details” button. Check the list and make sure it includes the “CM8330SB.DRV” driver. Click “OK”. On the “General” tab, click to select the “Disable in this hardware profile” check box, then click “OK”. Click “Close”. After disabling the sound card, restart the computer. After obtaining the regular sound card driver from the sound card manufacturer or from the C-Media Web site. Install the updated sound card driver, then try shutting down Windows 98. Note: After disabling the sound card, you will not hear any sound in Windows 98 unless you enable the sound card again. For the full details, see: Start menu → Help |
