After Fang Shao introduced the virtual floppy drive under DOS, now let me introduce virtual CD-ROM drives under DOS.

There are many kinds of virtual CD-ROM drives under DOS, for example:

1: Virtualize a specified local path as a CD-ROM drive:
This is probably the most commonly used kind. It can be done with a small program called FAKECD, such as: FAKECD C:\DOS

2: Virtualize an IMG/ISO CD image file as a CD-ROM drive:
This can be done with the SHSUCDHD command in SHSUCD. The specific method is to use it together with MSCDEX/SHSUCDX.

3: Virtualize a network server/client as a CD-ROM drive:
This can be done with the SHSUSERV/SHSUCDN commands in SHSUCD.

4: Virtualize an existing CD-ROM drive as multiple CD-ROM drives:
This can be done with the SHSUDRVX command in SHSUCD.

5: Create an empty CD-ROM drive:
This can be done with the KLUDGE0 command in SHSUCD;

And so on. Everyone might as well give them a try.

I feel this is not as good as Shsucdx.exe.

Why isn't it as good as Shsucd (excluding its own size)?

I think Shsucdx's compatibility is a bit worse than Cloaking+MSCDEX, and it also uses a bit more memory. Also, Shsucdx cannot be loaded twice, while Cloaking+MSCDEX can.

What does that mean?
