A Thinkpad, pre-installed with Win7. There are many partitioning methods, but I still like to use DOS partitioning like when using Xp. I wonder if Ms-dos7.10 can support it? If yes, are there any differences in the specific steps?

What size hard disk do you have?

DOS's fdisk does not support hard disks larger than 128GB

Mine is 320G, including two hidden partitions. According to what the brother upstairs said, it seems it won't work!

Hehe, the fdisk of DOS 7.1 doesn't support hard disks larger than 128GB. But using the fdisk of WinME is okay? As for whether it can support 320GB, I haven't tried it. Maybe brother fujianabc on the second floor can tell you.

Using DOS partitions, but it's not said that you must use FDISK to partition. I don't know the maximum hard drive supported by other partition tools under DOS.

One more thing I remembered, the FDISK in Win98/MS-DOS 7.0, Win98SE/MS-DOS 7.10 can't correctly display/partition hard disks larger than 64GB. Later, Microsoft released a patch. I don't know how large a hard disk the corrected FDISK can handle correctly.

I used the FDISK of WinME to view a 250G drive before, and there was an incorrect capacity identification.
I don't know about the modified version of Win98SE.

Use FDisk with caution; it's too outdated. My favorite partitioning tool is diskpart under Vista/Win7, just type diskpart in the command prompt

Even though FDISK isn't obsolete, I won't use it anymore. It takes forever to partition a hard drive with it nowadays.

What I disdain the most are those low-level operation software under Windows. I originally need to partition first and then install the system. How can there be a Windows platform for you to run first?

I have always disdained some partition software, recovery software, emergency software, etc. under Windows. I don't want the free downloads either. I originally had Windows problems. How can there be a Windows platform for you to run? Does it mean that each household needs to be equipped with two or more computers? Even so, at least the hard drive needs to be removed.

Use WinPE. Booting with an NT 6.x system disk enters WinPE.

Now many new hard disks are of 4K sectors. Old partitioning software can't handle the sector alignment problem well. The best one is NT 6.x's diskpart

Boot the computer with a Win7 original installation disc, press Shift+F10 to start the command line mode, and then you can run diskpart, which is very convenient.
