I installed VirtualPC on a Win2000 Server, and installed DOS 7.1 in the virtual machine, then installed MSClient, which can connect to the host. Because of other reasons, I had to install the host system as Win2003, and then found that DOS cannot connect to the host, only can connect to a computer in the same LAN as the host, which is also Win2000 Server. There was a previous post saying:
"WINDOWS2003 SERVER Active Directory (AD) by default requires the client to perform digital signature SMB packets to improve AD security. But WFW and DOS cannot pass digital signatures, so it is necessary to set [Domain Controller Security Policy], cancel the digital signature restriction: In [Administrative Tools\Domain Controller Security Policy\WINDOWS Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options], find: [WINDOWS Network Server: Digitally signed communications (always)] Disable it, and then disable [WINDOWS Network Server: Digitally signed communications: (if the client agrees)]. In this way, the DOS workstation can successfully net view \\servername, and can also successfully map and DIR browse the data in the network disk." But I tried according to the post, but it still didn't work. Why? Urgently asking experts for help. Host: Win2003, NetBEUI, TCP/IP, Virtual PC emulated Ethernet switch are also installed. The firewall is also turned off. Guest is also enabled. |

There are two modes for Windows Server 2003 domain controllers, mixed mode and native mode. Just installing the server in the default mixed mode can make DOS clients connect to the server.
