Question about an XP boot issue - China DOS Union Forum - China DOS Union

You should first download DOStoWXP (a tool that directly boots Windows XP from DOS), download here:
http://www.msdos.tk/show.php?id=78

Then put all the files from DOStoWXP in the root directory of drive C
Set the default boot system to MS-DOS 7.1
That is, in boot.ini set default= to default=C:\bootsect.dos
Or add a space after multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional", then add /WIN95DOS (I haven't tried this method either; saw it online, use with caution!)

Then add this line at the end of autoexec.bat in DOS 7.1:
if exist ghost.bat ghost.bat else dostowxp
That will do it. Basically, you're just using DOS 7.1 as the OS Loader.

Can XP be made to read the partitions first when booting? For example, check whether there is a system recovery file under C.D.E. For example GHOST。BAT. If there is one, execute GHOST。BAT to restore the system. If there is no GHOST。BAT, then do XP's normal startup. Can this be done?
