| DOS汉化世界 & 中文系统 (中文化室) » Proposal: start a Chinese-localization project for QUICK BASIC 4.5 |

The project is actually very simple: extract the QUICK BASIC help files, then
distribute them to a few translators, and then compile and compress them again. Actually, I think the most important Chinese localization is the localization of the help files. Localizing the documentation for programming tools can also lower the barrier to learning DOS programming. Anyone interested? Bump it up. |

My English isn't good, better go find Wengier!
He lives in Canada, his English must be a hundred times better than mine! And you're a girl, go stick to him a little! He'll definitely agree! |

Using VS6.0's MSDN as a reference should be about enough

Someone is already sticking to him.
Anyone else? Show some support. |

Have you made it support long filenames yet? If it does, then I'll definitely join..

I told you sticking to him would work!

The following is quoted from 沈洁 on 2003-7-21 11:21:38: What are you talking about?! But if QB doesn't support long filenames, then that's no fun.. |

Sigh, long filenames can be supported.
It's just that it's still under development. Wasn't I trying to make a library for long filename support last time? |

There is a Chinese edition of QB45, but it's a Traditional Chinese edition.

I don't know about that. Can you provide more detailed information?
Looks like Chinese-localizing QUICK BASIC is unnecessary then? Then what about localizing PERL or PYTHON FOR DOS? |

I have the Traditional Chinese edition of QB45, but it first checks whether systems like ETen are present; you can't fool it with CCDOS97.

What a hassle. Too bad it's Traditional Chinese. And their translation habits are different too, things like "software" and "internal interface card".

As for terms like “software” and “internal interface card,” that doesn't matter. But if it can only run under Chinese character support systems like ETen, that would be bad..
