If you're a newbie, then don't use a hex editor. Use Boot Animation Magician instead.

Since the Logo image file is a BMP image, then why can it move?
That's because Windows uses palette animation technology. Each time it boots, if the system finds a LOGO.SYS file that just happens to be an image file meeting the requirements, it loads it into memory, and according to the contents of its 33H and 34H bytes, determines how and whether to cycle the palette, thereby displaying an animated image.

You can see how it works by using debug on io.sys.

Hehe, everyone's paying too much attention to boot disks; very few people make logos anymore.
