Sorry, the title is a bit wordy.
I don't know whether there is this kind of software, similar to NC or VC, but able to support Chinese long filenames.
Because sometimes Windows can't start and I can only reinstall the system, but some files on the hard disk have to be moved to other partitions. These files are mainly written in WORD. Under DOS I can use a long filename tool to display them, but when I COPY them in VC they turn back into 8.3 format again. This is really bothering me. I don't want to make a WINPE, because my small CD is only a little over 200 MB. Could the DOS experts here point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

Load doslfn and then run vc. At that point vc will support long filenames.

But after COPY, the files are still in 8.3 format, right?

Why are you still using copy? Just use F5 in vc.

This is because copy doesn't support it!
Use disktool!

After running DOSLFN, files copied in VC do support long filenames. Maybe you didn't set VC properly so that it displays them using long filenames. In the menu in VC, under LEFT, there is a "name longs" option you can select!
