I want to learn how to localize software now. A few questions:
how can I tell whether this software has been compressed with UPX, UNP, or PKLITE?
How do I unpack them, and what are the decompression and compression format commands for each compression program?

Software compressed with UPX can be unpacked with UPX -d. Software compressed with PKLITE can be unpacked with UNP.. UNP is not a compression program, it's a decompression program..

Any version of Yilin English-Chinese Dictionary is fine, as long as it's easy to use!! Wengier is really great, always able to answer and reply.
