When my 98 starts up, this appears:
c:\>

c:\>
c:\>********** and some commands after that

But there are no such commands in autoexec.bat

Can anyone tell me where they are coming from?

Could it be that Autoexec.bat is still calling some other BAT file?

No. Those lines used to be in autoexec.bat
Later I deleted them, and now this file is empty
But when 98 starts up, those lines still appear

Could it be that it can't find win.com or something like that? If you don't say what it is, how would anyone know what it is?

No, it's just some batch commands created after installing some software, for deleting the extra stuff left behind by those program installations
It doesn't affect the system
I just want to know where these lines are coming from
(I forgot what the exact commands were)

Take another look and see whether a startup.bat under C:\windows\ is causing it (I think I remembered the filename correctly, right?). Kingsoft Anti-Virus modifies things this way.

Yes, yes, that's it. Thanks

I'd also like to ask, how does the system call this file during startup?

Win9x automatically calls this file during startup, but it won't when loading DOS.
