The moderator, I heard that using QV2.52 can make the PC speaker of a PC play MP3. Is this true?
I saw a post you posted,
But I always can't get it right when using it!
Can the moderator give some pointers!
I always get errors when using dss!

QV 2.52 and DSS 3.01 can indeed both play MP3 music using the PC Speaker, but the playback effect is naturally not comparable to that of a sound card.

The specific method of playing MP3 through PC Speaker with DSS 3.01 is introduced in the "FAQ" section of the website.

For using QV Pro 2.52 through PC Speaker, try this:

QV /WE$SPEAKER.SDR

Then you can play sounds in formats like MP3, WAV, MPEG, AVI, MOV, VCD, etc., from the PC Speaker like a normal sound card.

Using QV really works!
So happy!
However, I don't know why,
there are beeping sounds when playing mp3,
and the sound is relatively light too!

Q: How to play MP3 files with the speaker under DOS?

A: There are many MP3 players under DOS, such as QuickView, MPXPlay, OpenCP, DAMP, and even the old DOSAmp, etc., but most can only achieve playback with a sound card. To play MP3 files with the speaker, you can use a media software called DSS in full-screen mode (can be downloaded in the "Media Software" on this site) to achieve playback/recording of MP3 or WAV files with the sound card or PC speaker. The specific method is to change the device in DSS.INI to the device you want to play, for example, 1 is Sound Blaster, 8 is the PC speaker, and there are some other devices, such as ESS sound card, etc., which can be seen in its instructions. Or there is another way, that is, first convert the MP3 to a WAV file with software such as L3ENC, and then use software such as QuickView 1.x, SBPlay, etc. (also available on this site) to achieve playback of the converted WAV file with the PC speaker.
