Starting from today, all threads and replies in the DOS section that are not related to DOS issues will be directly deleted without transfer or notice, and deletion will be followed by deduction of points!

Seriously support.

In the DOS Union, the current situation where many people can't distinguish between DOS and CMD is really regrettable.

Is my post still there? Thanks, moderator, please copy it for me. Thanks.
I don't know the situation. I've only been here for less than a few days. I went to post elsewhere, and writing another one is really tiring. It's troublesome.

I'm having trouble seeing clearly. My own post is here. Please help the moderator answer it. It's really painful to have unknowns on my mind.

Support the administrator's decision.

But to be honest, the administrator should first let everyone know how to distinguish instead of just posting warning posts.

I just saw here
http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=24469

to know that CMD and DOS are not the same thing.

If the section can be divided more finely, or the introduction of the section is clearer, clearly distinguishing DOS and CMD would be better

The three letters DOS mean: Disk Operating System.
The meaning of WINDOWS is: Window.
But actually: Both the WINDOWS system and the DOS system can perform disk operations, and both can be said to be disk operating systems, just different versions.
WINDOWS is a disk operating system under the window, while DOS is a command-line operating system.
I remember there was a Windows 32 before. It was originally just a DOS shell and couldn't perform multitasking. It could be regarded as a third party of DOS.
Later, it developed to Windows 95, Windows 98, which could still be regarded as third parties of DOS (super strong).
Until Windows 2000, Windows NT, it seemed to enter a new generation of operating system.
This is the crystallization of the combination of "Disk Operating System" and "Window".
"Disk Operating System" and "Window" are like a pair of "couples", and the versions after Windows 2000 are like their "sons".
And this son of theirs is too powerful. It's like the Great Sage Equal to Heaven Sun Wukong. It can use the hairs on its body to transform into many small "windows". Among them, there is one called CMD.
Isn't the current WINDOWS still a disk operating system (DOS)?
I think it still is. It still has the blood of the old DOS and still does the old DOS things.
I don't know if this analogy is appropriate.
It is necessary to distinguish the sections, but Windows should not be excluded. To some extent, it has a "blood" relationship with DOS. It can transform many DOSes. And in a certain aspect, the small DOS (CMD) is stronger, but its permissions are limited. After all, it is the "son of the son", and it must be disciplined! ^_^

After reading so many predecessors' words, I also want to talk a little. If I say something wrong, don't laugh at me.

Windows NT is indeed not DOS, but its CMD window is indeed inherited from DOS.

Just as this forum is called the DOS Union Forum, but there are still many sections unrelated to DOS. Knowledge is systematic and organized, and it cannot be mechanically fragmented, let alone dogmatism. Our purpose is to popularize knowledge. Both DOS and CMD are within the scope of popularization. It is not the user's sorrow but the sorrow of this forum to come to the DOS Union Forum without understanding the difference between DOS and CMD.

The view of building 7 is quite objective. Letting ordinary users understand the difference between DOS and CMD cannot be solved by deleting posts, which is just like governing water cannot be done by blocking.

Those who support ls. Actually, many people, including me, can't tell the difference clearly. Just need to study a lot. Hope to pin the popular science knowledge.

Since you've decided to do this, it is recommended to pin it.

Haven't been to the forum for a long time. When I posted, I didn't see this prompt. After the post was deleted, I started looking and only then saw this rule.

This is not good. The differences between CMD and DOS, many people don't know... Here should be allowed to post content about CMD... As for the rest of the things, don't post them here...

One cannot say that similarity in appearance means similarity in essence. It's impossible to think that a special actor is a state leader just because he looks like one. The only thing CMD inherits from DOS is its command form, and it has nothing to do with DOS at all, unless CMD can also start independently like DOS and can have rich software under DOS to replace it. In this way, we can consider CMD as a brand-new version of DOS and formally include it in the forum for discussion. Therefore, it's inaccurate to say that it "has a lineage with" DOS. I actually think we can use the terms "winter worm summer grass" and "XX characteristics" to describe the changes between the two.

Just as this forum is called the DOS Union Forum, but there are still many sections unrelated to DOS opened. Knowledge is systematic and well-organized. One cannot mechanically separate it or be dogmatic. Our purpose is to popularize knowledge. Both DOS and CMD are within the scope of popularization.

Although some sections unrelated to DOS are opened, the purpose of opening these sections at the beginning was just to facilitate members to solve practical problems they encountered, not for development, and it's of an incidental nature. We should clarify the main and the secondary. The knowledge system certainly has continuity and connection, but also classification. If we all start from the perspective of pragmatism, then all online forums should be merged into one, and there's no need for each forum to have various sections. Putting everything together isn't very good? Our purpose is to popularize knowledge, but we should clarify what knowledge to popularize. Non-DOS issues are allowed to exist, but they are not within the scope of popularization, and they should not be mixed with DOS. Once again, this is not a general forum, not a forum for solving computer difficult problems, not a free solution providing forum, not a forum for talking about practical things. The relationship between DOS and other operating systems is not a relationship of water and fire, but a relationship of water and water not interfering with each other. However, if the water always encroaches on the river, then don't blame the river for being impolite.

Coming to the DOS Union Forum but not understanding the difference between DOS and CMD is not the user's sorrow, but the sorrow of this forum.

This is indeed not the user's sorrow. But what is a forum? A forum is like a country and society, an abstract noun. Without specific individuals, how can we form a country or society? Therefore, if there are no activities of individual members, the forum is just an empty shell. If there are no efforts of individual members, then beginners will never understand the difference between DOS and CMD. If everyone holds an attitude similar to pragmatism and thinks that it doesn't matter to distinguish between DOS and CMD, then they will not only fail to understand the difference between DOS and CMD, but also post non-DOS posts everywhere in this forum. Then this is even more the sorrow of this forum. In this "DOS Difficult Problems" section, even content of VBS is posted. This is not a problem of not knowing the difference between DOS and CMD.

The view of building 7 is very objective. Making ordinary users understand the difference between DOS and CMD cannot be solved by deleting posts. This is just like governing water cannot be done by blocking.

Of course, I don't want to use compulsory measures. I have been moving posts for several months before this, but there are still people who post posts repeatedly. We all know that the moderators of the forum are not full-time staff and cannot watch all day long. Therefore, it's necessary to take some compulsory measures. This is just like the country's regulation that one cannot take flammable and explosive dangerous goods when taking transportation tools. It's impossible to let you go just because you say you don't know which are flammable and explosive items. If you bring them, then I'm sorry, they will still be confiscated.

Originally, I wanted to pin the post after posting and close the discussion. But considering that many people never read the pinned posts when they come in, just like we never care about the front page headlines of newspapers, so I thought it's better to let this post "float" on the first page for a while, and pin it later after some time.
