My motherboard's PS/2 keyboard port is broken. Now I can only use a USB - connected keyboard. But the system doesn't recognize the keyboard before entering WINDOWS, and I can't reinstall the system. How to deal with this?

Although this problem is indeed related to BIOS, it is恐怕 not a problem that can be solved by simply changing the BIOS casually.

Since the keyboard cannot be used during system installation, find a way to make the system install automatically without the need for a keyboard.

This matter proves again that Windows is rubbish and so are the manufacturers, everything follows Microsoft.
In theory, whether to support USB Legacy Support can be set in the BIOS. If it wasn't set to Support originally, but you could use a PS/2 keyboard to rescue. Now if the PS/2 is broken, then there's no way.

This should be solvable. The answer is to flash the BIOS in Windows. However, before flashing the BIOS, back up the computer's BIOS first, then use the corresponding software (for example, use AMIBCP.exe for AMI) to modify "USB Legacy Support" and change the option to "Enabled", save it, and then flash the BIOS back.

There are two methods:

1. Find a software that can modify your CMOS settings under Windows

2. Use a BIOS modification tool under Windows to modify the default settings of your BIOS, set USB legacy to enable. Then flash the modified file into the BIOS, discharge the motherboard, and after booting, the BIOS will load the modified default settings.

This is a solution, but it has very poor practicality. The only feasibility is that you can enter Windows, and you just need to modify BIOS settings. But for something like costtl which requires reinstalling the system, you already need to install Windows. How can you enter without Windows? So, I have always looked down upon some partition software, recovery software, emergency software, etc. under Windows, and I don't want free downloads either. I originally had problems with Windows, where would I get the Windows platform to run it? Does it mean that every household needs to be equipped with two or more computers? Even so, at least the hard drive needs to be removed.

Updating the BIOS is a risky thing, so be cautious.

You just put forward destructive suggestions but have no constructive ones, which seems a bit unfair.

In fact, for the owner's problem, the simplest thing is to change a motherboard, but the thing is that the person doesn't want to do that.

If Windows can't start, you can consider booting a PE or something. Installing a PE shouldn't be too complicated, but if the original Windows is broken, it seems you can only take out the hard drive to deal with it.

I didn't put forward any suggestions. This is my resentment towards manufacturers following Microsoft and all taking Windows availability as the standard, and some users also being forced to "follow the trend" and suffer! Although WinPE can play a certain role, it is "dead", heh heh.

Re: Df (Actually, I don't like others giving me random nicknames either, and reciprocity is the proper thing to do)

I agree with your point. Hardware manufacturers shouldn't take only being compatible with Windows as the sole standard. This is a very despicable behavior, and it's not beneficial to all of us.

However, it seems that the problem with the USB keyboard support of the thread starter should be due to the fact that the corresponding option isn't enabled in the CMOS settings. It's not necessarily a problem with the motherboard design.

It seems that we have a consistent view on technical issues, heh heh, that's great.

Next, let's talk about something off-topic: I didn't give you a random nickname. I said, the nickname I gave you is a combination of transliteration and free translation at a high level! I'm quite proud of my this creativity, heh heh heh heh. I've been calling you not for one or two years. If you forget, you can flip through previous posts to prove it. Who made you so cute... heh heh heh heh... Come on, let me give you another kiss! Don't be shy -- heh heh heh heh heh heh...

I can understand transliteration. Can you explain in detail what free translation means?

Haha! My free translation was also taken from your own name and your motto, but you can't even understand it yourself, haha...

"I am a small stone", and something about welcoming the beating of the waves of the sea, sorry, I forgot the original words.

Your surname is Shi, "ke" sounds like the C in your Climbing, and this free translation is taken from your surname and your motto. Ke symbolizes that you are not afraid of difficulties and obstacles on the road of life, climbing up bumpily. Why don't I say moving forward bumpily? Climbing, Shi, climbing a mountain—ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
