I want to reinstall the system. How do I get into MS-DOS?
I used a WIN-ME CD to boot into DOS, but it failed—it went straight into WINDOS.

Choose the boot mode. When the system boots, a boot mode selection menu will appear. You should choose to start in DOS command line mode.

First of all, OP, your post doesn't even have a title, that's pretty irresponsible.
You don't need to enter msdos to install windows; just boot directly from the installation CD and install!
Also, boot CDs from winme and above don't seem to support entering DOS, right?! I don't remember clearly.
