I installed Ubuntu using a hard drive. My partitions are c.d.e /boot / /home seap. I put the boot in /boot and didn't install it to the MBR. After reinstalling the system, I couldn't enter Ubuntu. I used the command root (hd0, 6) setup (hd0,0) and got back the boot screen but couldn't enter XP. I used Partition Doctor to get back the XP boot screen. When I installed Ubuntu, only the C drive was a primary partition. How can I get it back? I'm using grub4dos. I tried but couldn't enter. Any good methods? Thanks. It's that I used someone else's grub4dos. Originally there was a grub boot, and I made my own. It's not that I need to reinstall Ubuntu. Is it that I installed someone else's grub, and using my own can't boot? Please clarify.

It is suggested to start Win first, and add c:\grldr=grub in the boot.ini of Win to boot grub4dos. If grub4dos can start successfully, then it will be easier to start Ubuntu. Find the menu.lst file of Ubuntu, and you can start any menu.lst with the configfile command of grub, and then you can start Ubuntu from Ubuntu's own menu.lst.
