The following is one of my diary entries:

Around midnight on the night of June 24, 2003, after finishing a movie I was just about to enter the land of her dreams, when I suddenly heard a noise in the room. So I climbed out of bed to investigate, and found a mouse under the bed. I quickly shut the windows and doors and launched a man-vs.-mouse war. It was nearly 4 a.m. when I finally caught the mouse. I was so mad that I grabbed it by the tail and swung it left and right, up and down; and by accident, I swung its tail right off. I thought the mouse looked pretty pitiful, and couldn't bear to sentence it to death, so in the end I decided to modify it and let it travel with me. I applied Bluetooth technology and implanted a chip into its body. As a result, it instantly turned into an advanced biochemical wireless optical mouse. This really shocked me. I was overjoyed and so excited that I couldn't sleep all night. I thought to myself, this year's Nobel Prize winner will be me, haha! This advanced biochemical wireless optical mouse is still with me now. This mouse is really not bad!

The MBI investigation team really is formidable — from spies to inventors. You people don't just investigate humans, you investigate mice too.

Looks like if you cut off the mouse cord, it becomes a wireless mouse. This invention is way too useful!!!

This is my innovation: cut the mouse cord, bring on Bluetooth technology! So what do you think? After I win the Nobel Prize this year, I'll treat you moderators to a meal.

No way, Kuangxiang, your technology doesn't work. I cut off that tail, and the mouse, it... it... it went on strike. All for nothing, when I give it so much food (electricity) every day.

Then just attach it back on..

I admit this technology does indeed have a bit of a BUG, but it'll be solved very soon. When the time comes, just go to my company and download a patch to patch it up!

Bluetooth?? Too slow..... only 1Mbps... better use IEEE 802.11 g...... it's got 54Mbps!!

IEEE approves a total of four standards including 802.11g WLAN and WPAN

IEEE recently approved two new wireless local area network (WLAN) and personal area network (WPAN) standards, and at the same time also approved two recommended standards. It is expected to greatly promote the rollout and upgrading of new products, and ensure interoperability between products.

Among the four approved standards, the most anticipated are the IEEE 802.11g and 802.15.3 standards for WLAN and WPAN connections respectively. The new 802.11g standard specifies transmission rates of up to 54Mbps within the 2.45GHz band. Although 802.11g uses orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the standard still sets mandatory provisions to make it compatible at 11Mbps with the well-established 802.11b standard, which uses complementary code keying (CCK) modulation. Both .11g and .11b operate within a range of 300 feet.

The 802.15.3 standard for high-speed WPAN also operates in the 2.45GHz band, with similar speeds ranging from 11 to 55Mbps, but it is designed for shorter distances (1 to 50 meters) and very low-power operation, and uses the TDMA protocol. It is said that products based on the draft 802.11g standard are already on the market, but products using the new 802.15.3 standard are not expected until 2004.

The other two approved recommended standards are 802.15.2 and 802.11f. 802.15.2 solves coexistence issues between WLAN and WPAN operating in the 2.45GHz band, such as Bluetooth, 802.15.3 WPAN, and 802.11b and 802.11g WLAN. Meanwhile, the 802.11f Inter-Access Point Protocol ensures interoperability among access points from multiple vendors, mainly solving client roaming issues.

The key is cost. If the cost can't be brought down, user adoption won't be high, and it won't be able to seize the market quickly. And my new technology — cut the mouse cord, bring on Bluetooth technology — has great prospects for development. I'm very confident in it, because its cost is extremely low!
