Using grubinst to install GRUB4DOS on a USB flash drive. The version is grub4dos-0.4.4-2008-08-08. Then copy grldr and GRUB.EXE to the root directory of the USB flash drive. The computer can be successfully booted. The reality is that the RAM-FDD boot is successful. But I found that the boot menu is the built-in menu, not my own written menu.lst. Of course, importing the built-in menu is possible, but modification is troublesome. I want to use MENU.LST. Please tell me how? Also, ask how to determine the drive letter after the USB flash drive is booted? The FDISK LS commands can't be used. After ROOT, it shows FD0. After changing the drive letter in the menu to FD0, it says no. Using the relative path SET ROOT can't find the file I placed.

Heheh, "used grubinst to install GRUB4DOS on the USB flash drive
Version grub4dos-0.4.4-2008-08-08
Then copied grldr GRUB.EXE to the root directory of the USB flash drive", actually succeeded in booting? And it's booting the menu built into GRUB.EXE?

Indeed, I don't quite understand it. How did the original poster operate?

Installed on the U disk MBR using grubinst
Then copy grldr GRUB.EXE in grub4dos-0.4.4-2008-08-08 to the root directory
Newcomer, I'm talking in a messy way
What else needs to be explained

Hehe, not only is what you said rather messy, but the approach is also very wrong!
"Using grubinst to install GRUB4DOS on the USB flash drive.
Version grub4dos-0.4.4-2008-08-08.
Then copy grldr GRUB.EXE to the root directory of the USB flash drive" — this kind of approach is impossible to successfully boot GRUB from your USB flash drive! Take note: it's from your USB flash drive.

There must be another grub installed on the building owner's computer. That grub.exe is used to start grub under DOS. You use grubinst to install grub to the USB flash drive, set the USB flash drive as the first boot disk in BIOS, copy that written menu.lst and grldr to the root directory of the USB flash drive, and then restart.
