When comparing posts in domestic and foreign DOS forums, the differences are quite significant, as listed below:
Domestic DOS Forum vs Foreign DOS Forum 1 Domestic DOS Forum: Often someone asks how to repair a damaged disk Foreign DOS Forum: Rarely see such posts 2 Domestic DOS Forum: Often someone inquires where to download very old software Foreign DOS Forum: Rarely see such posts 3 Domestic DOS Forum: The content of posts is very monotonous, mainly about disk operations Foreign DOS Forum: The range of inquiries is very wide, covering various DOS problems 4 Domestic DOS Forum: Regarding DOS, it can be said that only questions about MS-DOS are asked Foreign DOS Forum: Often someone asks about other DOS issues such as DR/FreeDOS 5 Domestic DOS Forum: Often someone asks questions related to Win but not related to DOS Foreign DOS Forum: Rarely see such posts 6 Domestic DOS Forum: The tone is mainly about being outdated/nostalgic and collecting old software Foreign DOS Forum: The tone is mainly about development and finding new DOS software 7 Domestic DOS Forum: Often see incorrect replies, such as saying DOS doesn't support long filenames, USB devices, etc. Foreign DOS Forum: Many people know how to use long filenames and USB devices under DOS and tell more people through forum replies so that more people can know 8 Domestic DOS Forum: Think there are only these software under DOS, and more software will not be launched or developed anymore Foreign DOS Forum: Everyone continues to find more and better software among the known software and tell others after finding them 9 Domestic DOS Forum: Often ask how to use DOS to solve Win problems Foreign DOS Forum: Rarely see such posts A Domestic DOS Forum: Often repost articles like "Playing with the Registry under DOS" Foreign DOS Forum: Can be said that such reposts of posts are根本not seen B Domestic DOS Forum: Many questions have very low quality Foreign DOS Forum: The quality is generally much higher C Domestic DOS Forum: Many questions are not replied to at all Foreign DOS Forum: The situation is much better D Domestic DOS Forum: Know nothing about the latest development of DOS, feeling isolated from the world Foreign DOS Forum: The situation is much better, with a spirit of free development E Domestic DOS Forum: Even newly created DOS articles are very conventional, without new ideas and new things Foreign DOS Forum: The situation is much better F Domestic DOS Forum: Overall, it seems dull and tasteless, with no vitality and new ideas Domestic DOS Forum: New things keep emerging and attract everyone to read and communicate And so on... This is just a glimpse. What are everyone's opinions? |

There are the following reasons for this phenomenon:
1. China's Internet is still relatively backward. It's just in recent years. Most people just chat and play games. Too few people care about pure technology, and at the same time, information is relatively blocked. They can't learn about the development of DOS abroad and think that DOS is outdated and useless. This is the general environment. 2. Chinese people have a relatively strong individualism and are relatively practical. In the large domestic DOS environment, few people will do this thankless work. There are many overseas students who go abroad. Even if they understand the development of DOS abroad, they won't do much because they consider their personal future more. There are too few people like WENGIER. 3. Chinese people are still too poor. Most people can't afford the games that foreigners play. They can't spend all day on the Internet or spend a lot of energy developing new DOS software without reward. Chinese people must earn basic money to support their families. This is bound to make domestic people not focus their main energy on less practical things. This is a practical problem. For DOS to develop in China, in addition to the efforts of friends, it also depends on the hardware and software environment of our country. |

Hit the nail on the head! It highly summarizes the current situation and existing problems of DOS in China as well as the development trends of DOS abroad.

When we see a problem, we must move in the direction of solving it.

That's a good point, and this is also a problem we should face.

Fortunately, this DOS forum is not bad, while other Chinese DOS forums, such as the 163 DOS forum, the DOS Home forum, etc., are another story.
