I ran into the following problems while using the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk: 1. I burned it to a CD, but it can’t boot, why?? 2. When booting from a floppy, I can only enter options 1, 5, and 6. After choosing 2, 3, or 4, there is no response at all, no problem?? 3. I have a WinXP CD here (of course it’s pirated), a combined Home and Professional edition. The Professional directory is like this: \SIMPCHIN\WINXP\PROFESSIONAL. After booting I can only see professi. Even if I manually load doslfn, I still can’t get in, but other long filenames work. Why is this one the only one that doesn’t? 4. After booting, the USB driver is loaded, so how can I get into my USB flash drive (I don’t see its drive letter in the list)?

Thank you very much for raising these questions!

Some of these are obviously compatibility problems with certain software under certain systems. A very important point of the future “China DOS Union Super DOS Boot Disk” will be to continue strengthening compatibility across all systems, and it will undergo extensive testing. Suggestions are welcome!

Webmaster, webmaster, I’ve found a way under DOS to enter the Professional directory on my XP CD, but it’s a bit frustrating. 1. While in WinXP, I ran VC.com from the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk and saw that my Professional name was profes~3. When switching to DOS under XP, I can enter it using profes~3, but when booting with the MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk into pure DOS, I still can’t. 2. Booting with the fully Chinese MiniWindows 3.2 boot disk, when I enter File Manager I see professi.ona. After exiting back to DOS, I can enter it with that. Sigh, this is really tiring, I guess I should go buy another XP disc. By the way, one more question: after entering File Manager with the fully Chinese MiniWindows 3.2 boot disk, it seems I can only copy files and so on, and can’t run programs, yes or no?

This is probably a problem with the long filename on the CD, right? In that case, you can try the small MKLINK program included with DOSLFN to solve it.

As for the “File Manager in the fully Chinese MiniWindows 3.2 boot disk”, of course it can run programs. However, for non-standard types of programs, you should first choose “Associate”, and only then can you run them.
