Project 2: Chinese web browser
Description: Going online under pure DOS is not very difficult now. You only need to load the Packet driver for the network card or modem (for details, see the “DOS Usage” section), and then run a web browser under DOS. But the biggest problem is that the existing DOS web browsers made abroad do not support Chinese well; some even cannot display Chinese characters at all. For netizens who want to read Chinese, these are not very practical. Although the Lynx browser, after configuration, can display Chinese characters in web pages normally, its interface and functions still cannot compare with other browsers. So, let’s also design a browser and make it display Chinese correctly! Hint: its appearance and usage should preferably be similar to the IE browser, that is, equivalent to a DOS version of the IE browser. In addition, for the TCP/IP protocol under DOS, it is recommended to use WATTCP TCP/IP. It is very practical, and detailed information and documentation can all be found at www.wattcp.com/ Note: a certain company once said on its homepage that it had “successfully developed a DOS browser comparable to the IE browser”; you can see it here: http://www.wind.com.cn/company/memorabilia.htm, but no download was provided. If anyone knows how to get it, please tell me, thanks!
I hope any related articles about progress in this area will be posted after this post
