EdtPRO 5.0 (Elevation) Final Edition Boot Disk - China DOS Union Forum

Development work on version 5.0 has already been terminated, and version 6.0 is now being designed. Hopefully before long everyone will be able to boot an ftp/http/telnet server from a single disk.
Download the EdtPRO 5.0 (Elevation) Final Edition boot disk (does not include the EdtUP component or serial generation function). This version is the English edition. This version supports 16 popular network cards, and the network protocol to use can be selected from the menu according to the specific needs of the network. Everyone can use network support through Expert Mode. If network support is not needed, users are advised to continue using version 4.0.

．Network functionality has been introduced into Expert Mode. This function was created based on Microsoft(R) Network Client version 3.0.
．Users need to configure the file "A:\CUSTOMS\NET_CFG.BAT" in advance (and users only need to configure this file to complete network configuration). If the TCP/IP protocol is not used, then only the network card type needs to be specified. For detailed configuration instructions, please refer to the relevant contents in that file. If the user has not configured this file in advance, then during the process of loading the network the user will be prompted that the network has not been configured correctly. At that time the user needs to configure the file "\NETWORK\NET_CFG.BAT" in the virtual drive. This file is configured the same way as the file "A:\CUSTOMS\NET_CFG.BAT".
．After successfully entering Expert Mode, the user only needs to type "NETWORK" to start network support. The user may also reconfigure the file "\NETWORK\NET_CFG.BAT" in the virtual drive, then type "NETWORK" to start network support.
．To start network support, the user needs to choose the required network protocol, and should make the selection according to the specific network situation. See the relevant IEEE 802.3 specifications for details.
．The file "A:\NETWORK\CACHE.CAB" is the package of supported network card drivers. This file is not required (it may be deleted to speed up booting and free disk space. But the user must copy the specified network card driver to the directory "A:\NETWORK\CACHE", then configure the file "A:\CUSTOMS\NET_CFG.BAT" to enable network support).

Boss! Your disk is a bit too professional! So nobody could really figure it out! But it does look pretty powerful!

The biggest impression this boot disk gives me is that it feels "official." The large number of boxes left a deep impression on me. You can also tell from some of the configuration files that this boot disk really is the very professional kind.

But let me offer a suggestion too: I hope the prompt messages and help instructions can be a bit more detailed, so users can get started with it more easily.

Also, I think using that JO.SYS is not as good as using GRUB, which is more powerful and convenient.

To use network support in Expert Mode, first edit "A:\CUSTOMS\NET_CFG.BAT". This file is the configuration file for the network support function. Edit the "DESTINE" section as shown in the picture.

Among them, the environment variable "NETCARD" corresponds to the network card type. For example, if the user's network card is RealTeck RTL8139 Network Card, then set the value of "NETCARD" to "RTSND" (not "RTSND.DOS"

. For detailed network card types, please check the contents of the "NETCARD" section in that configuration file. The other variables such as "DISABLEDHCP" and "IPADDRESS" are configuration items for using a TCP/IP network. If the user uses the NetBEUI or IPX/SPX compatible protocol, then there is no need to configure these items. To use network support, users should choose Expert Mode at startup. After booting successfully, type "NETWORK" and press Enter. The following menu will appear.
