Have you looked through all the software linked on your website?

When I was scanning for viruses I found some viruses. I found 3 of them:
HiRAM 1.9.ZIP\HIFILES.EXE
PMWUnLite 1.2.zip\pmwunlic.exe
Fix27 1.0.zip\FIX27.COM

Are they viruses, or just being mistaken for viruses?

Most likely false positives. Old DOS viruses haven't been common for a long time.

That was found by Kingsoft Antivirus 2002, right? Most likely a false positive.

Yes, you spotted it

What causes a false positive?

I scanned them with NAV and F-PROT under DOS; there are no viruses. Kingsoft Antivirus has a very high false-positive rate, so it's not trustworthy.

Older versions of Kingsoft Antivirus already had this problem.

Right now I think the most practical antivirus software is F-PROT.

Kingsoft Antivirus has quite a lot of problems. Once, when I was upgrading OFFICE2000 at MICROSOFT, it seemed one update file had a DOS virus in it (the virus was HXH1680; does Microsoft itself even carry DOS viruses??), but my Kingsoft Antivirus .net didn't detect it, and Kingsoft's online scanner couldn't detect it either when I went online (including RISING). In the end I used the DOS version of Rising Star XP to detect and remove it. After that I switched to KV3000, and it's pretty good. Later I emailed a sample of that virus to Kingsoft, but they only said: We will process the virus sample you sent as soon as possible; please make sure to update your Kingsoft Antivirus. After that there was no more news. I'm not trying to slander Kingsoft here, but isn't its virus-handling service a bit poor? HXH1680 was a DOS virus that had already been known for a long time (for example by KV3000 and Rising Star XP), yet it still didn't even have a code sample for that virus? Now I only trust KV3000!
