Hello, experts. I’ve just started learning batch file writing. I read the content about file copying in the featured thread, but I still don’t quite understand how to solve the problem I’m facing now, so I’m asking all you experts for advice. Thank you all very, very much!
The current situation is like this: Right now there are two laptops at home. Because of a virus some time ago, I was really hurt badly by it, and a lot of materials were lost. Recently I bought a larger portable hard drive, and I plan to use it to back up the contents of the two laptops from time to time into designated folders on the portable hard drive. The problem now is: 1\The portable hard drive shows different drive letters on the two computers, so it can’t be done with the XCOP plus drive-letter method; 2\To distinguish the backup time, it would be best if under the designated folder on the portable hard drive it could automatically create a new folder named with the date, and then copy the backup contents into it; 3\My computer has four drives (C\D\E\F), but my wife’s computer has five drives (C\D\E\F\G, where E is the CD-ROM drive). Now aside from drive C and the CD-ROM, all the others need to be backed up. How can I have the program automatically filter them and perform the backup; 4\Can the delay function be used to make the DOS window disappear? If so, how can it be used in this batch file. Many thanks! |

There are many ways to find the removable drive letter, search for it.

I got some information so quickly, thank you very much!!!!
Since it’s to be used separately on two computers, the batch file is placed on the portable hard drive. Is that OK? |

You can put it anywhere, as long as it can communicate with the operating system.
