Posting a how-to for making a lifesaving disk:
How to Make an O&O Bluecon Boot CD 1. About O&O Bluecon O&O Bluecon is an enhanced NTDOS. It can help you repair things when your NT/2000 has problems, read any information on NTFS partitions (of course, the SAM file can also be copied out), and it can also change any user's password, etc. (For more information, see O&O's help documents.) 2. Making it First let's see what we need to get this done. 1) O&O BlueCon 2000 Professional 2) CDRWIN 4.0A 3) A Windows 2000 installation disc of any version 4) 4 disks 5) 1 CD-R or CD-RW disc After installing 1) and 2), we can begin. Start O&O BootWizard 2000 Pro 1) Step 1 of 7 : Select CD-ROM (1 CD-R required) 2) Step 2 of 7 : Insert the Windows 2000 installation disc into the CD-ROM drive (it must be bootable), and select the corresponding drive letter, then choose or create a folder for the files that are about to be made 3) Step 3 of 7 : Check Create Windows 2000 Setup Disks and press Next. The system will prompt you to insert the disks one by one. If you already have the 4 Win2k boot disks, do not check this box (default) and skip this step 4) Step 4 of 7 : Whether to add OEM devices. Just press Next directly to skip it 5) Step 5 of 7 : Copy Tools, choose whether to include O&O Bluecon's utility software. It is recommended to check it 6) Step 6 of 7 : Press Next, and the system will prompt you to insert the Windows 2000 boot floppies one by one 7) Step 7 of 7 : At this point the boot files needed for making the CD are finished Start CDRWIN 4.0A 1) Press the 4th button on the top row in the main window to start File Backup and Tools 2) In the Backup/Tools drop-down box select Build and record an ISO9660 image file 3) Click the Browse "Directory" button in the File Backup List combo box, select the folder specified earlier in O&O for storing the boot files, then click Add to add it to the list 4) In the checkboxes below, only check: Include Hidden File Long Filenames Include System File Recurse Subdirector Include Archive Files 5) In the ISO9660 Image File combo box, Image can be set to something like "C:\Bootcd.iso". Of course that drive must have enough space to store the ISO file, and you also need to check Disable Version Number 6) Click the Advanced Options button, and in the advanced options set the Bootable Disc option by checking Make Bootable Disc Media Emulation select Custom Image File Name enter BOOTSECT.DAT from the boot files made earlier Leave Developer Name blank Load SegMent enter 07C0 Load Sector Count enter 4 Press OK to finish the settings and return to File Backup and Tools 7) Insert a CD-R or CD-RW into the writer, press START, and everything is OK. |
