Title: How to install 98 under XP/2K
I know this question is very old, and it's also in the digest area, but people still keep asking, maybe the titles of those articles aren't eye-catching enough? So I'll write another one again. Hopefully fewer people will ask. Note: unless specially stated otherwise, when I say fat I mean fat32. I strongly recommend not putting 2k/xp and 98 on the same partition. 98 must be installed on a fat partition. It doesn't have to be installed on c, it can be installed on another drive, but the boot partition must be fat. The operating steps are below. 1。First check under 2k/xp what format your c drive is, fat or ntfs. And whether there is a fat partition. If c is ntfs, then you need to create a fat primary partition, then set it as the active partition. 2。Boot the system with a 98 startup disk (floppy or CD is fine), and install 98 onto the fat active partition 3。After 98 is installed, 2k/xp can no longer be used. Run the 2k/xp installer under 98 (of course you can also just find osloader to repair it, but sometimes the installer is easier to find) 4。When restarting, hold down F8, choose the 98 system, and enter 5。Edit boot。ini, see the first post in this section for the method. Delete the temporary installation files (the ones with $ in the name). |
