China's software piracy rate is 92%
The international software rights protection group BSA (Business Software Alliance) announced on June 3, 2003 that China's piracy rate is 92%, India's is 70%, Indonesia's is 89%, Vietnam's is 95%, Thailand's is 77%, Russia's is 89%, the United States' is 23%, and Japan's is 35%. In addition, the global average rate is 39%.
BSA is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, USA, joined by major American software vendors such as Adobe Systems, Microsoft, and Symantec.
The piracy rate is estimated based on data such as the quantity of legitimately shipped commercial software and the average number of commercial software installations on personal computers.
