How to quickly repair Win2000 startup
I formatted a floppy under Win2000 PRO, then copied the startup files onto it to make a Win2000 boot disk. But after booting with it, it goes straight into Win2000. If I want to use it to repair hard disk boot, what should I do (using the CD to repair is too troublesome, I only need to be able to repair the boot)? Can it be set to repair automatically? Or is there some other better way? |

What do you want to repair? Your 2000 can't boot?

It can't, how do I repair it (without using the Win2K CD)?

Then make a Win2K startup recovery floppy.

Yeah.... that's exactly what I want.......
How do I do it? Would this work: back up the uncorrupted boot sector into a file, then back up the boot files, then boot from the boot disk, use a tool to write the boot sector back and copy the boot files back, and use a bat file to do it automatically... But I don't know how to write the boot sector back (automatically), and which sectors should be backed up? |

There is a related thread in the featured threads, go take a look yourself. It counts as a fairly perfect solution.

Using the super moderator's two little tools, SRCBOOT and BOOTPART, you can restore Win2k (or dual-boot startup with 98). The detailed method was introduced before.
