It's okay to use CD-ROMs without GURB. But this problem occurs on the hard drive.

Friend, this problem still belongs to the basic knowledge problem of grub4dos. Both the emulated disk and emulated CD-ROM of grub4dos are carried out under the real mode of the CPU. Only those software that use BIOS calls to access disk and CD-ROM devices can be combined with the emulation characteristics of grub4dos. Hardware drivers like gcdrom will not use the BIOS interrupt calls established by grub, so it cannot find the virtual CD-ROM. You can try eltorito.sys, put it in config.sys, maybe it can successfully drive the virtual CD-ROM established by grub4dos. There are examples of using eltorito.sys in the readme of grub4dos. eltorito.sys is not a software released by grub4dos, but a software from other projects, which is very famous. Therefore, you need to search and download eltorito.sys on the Internet.

If this can truly simulate a CD, that would be great. I'm a layperson. According to my self-study understanding, GRUB can only read and execute files in the ISO, but it's not simulating a CD. The owner's question should be easy to understand. [ Last edited by fliger on 2009-1-31 at 01:52 ]
