I saw posts by forum experts, a lot of them talk about Chinese localization. I wonder if there is any way to see Chinese characters right when DOS is booting up?
Hehe, starting from drivers like HIMEM.SYS, everything would already be in Chinese. Of course, it would be best if “Starting MS-DOS...” could be shown as “Booting MS-DOS...”, but that may be too difficult, hehe Is there any boot disk like that?? |

No, because DOS has not started yet at that point. To do this, you would have to completely bypass DOS yourself and write a new disk boot record, which would cause fairly serious compatibility problems.

Wrong, I'm not that capable, but some software really has done this, such as some hard disk protection cards.

Have you ever thought about writing a hard disk protection card!
Use the memory chip in the hard disk protection card to replace the motherboard BIOS in booting the motherboard! |

Oh, this idea came about like this
Some of you may have used XZL (the world's smallest Chinese character support system, only 53K)! When you enter “XZL /?” at the command prompt, the help information shown is all in Chinese. It may be displaying them using a built-in graphical character array. Normally at boot, it's only to display a few Chinese characters, so why can't the same technique be used? ^_^ Hehe, of course that's just wishful thinking on my part ~~ |

But it is possible, for example, just embedding that BT into IO.SYS would do it... But the problem is, we don't have that level yet...

Even the moderator doesn't have that level,
so it's even less worth mentioning for us! Better ask MYS! |

Asking me is no use right now, my level is very ordinary.

It should be very simple, right!!
You wouldn't need fonts, you could use ascii to piece together Chinese, though the characters would be a bit large... |

The following is quoted from sycsyc at 2003-7-7 13:59:08: Then could you explain your method? |

Modify the io.sys file and add some code to accomplish the following three steps
1。Change a small number of internal encodings in ascii such as 192 and 128 into Chinese character graphics 2。Implement a function similar to bt, so that these modified ascii internal encodings can take effect 3。Modify the corresponding display messages in io.sys into Chinese characters These steps are all very difficult, 。。。。。。I don't have that kind of skill, 。。。。but surely someone can do it, 。。。。。。I guess we'll have to wait for the Terminator to appear. 。。。。。 |

I'm just thinking of adding a piece of code to the hard disk MBR,
to display a line of Chinese characters. |

Hello, Wengier
My machine has both 98 and xp installed. How can I boot them separately with a floppy disk? 98 is on drive C and xp is on drive D. Before, I copied the boot files from drive C boot.ini bootfont.bin ntdetect.com ntldr io.sys command.com MSDOS.SYS to a floppy disk and it could boot, but now it can't Can you help me? |
