A Gigabyte XT-60 motherboard, with an integrated Creative sound card, dual hard disks, and multiple systems. Under WIN98 in MS-DOS mode, using QV software
to play MP3 files works normally, but under DOS622 it says "sound card not found". I already loaded the SBPCI files in DOS622 the same way as set in AUTOEXEC.BAT under MS-DOS. Although QV shows the MP3 files in white (playable), the "sound card not found" problem is still exactly the same. What should I do? |

You mean you open a DOS window from the 98 desktop, run QV, and MP3 playback works normally, right?

Under the DOS windows in both 98 and 2K, everything is normal.

Under a DOS session in a 98 window, playing MP3s is actually using the driver under WIN, it's not that DOS itself can drive the sound card. In a DOS session under a 98 window you can even access the network. When did your DOS ever load a NIC driver and network configuration?

Then when playing under pure DOS 7.10, can it find the sound card?

Under DOS7.1 it works. I think the problem is with the version or FAT. Question for the moderator, what should I do?

That shows MS-DOS 6.22 is too old and its compatibility is not good enough. Just upgrade the system to MS-DOS 7.10.

That's not a very good idea!

The following is quoted from KXMD's post on 2003-6-22 20:21:24: What's not a very good idea? Why? |

Could you recommend a driver for this sound card? I've already searched all over the net and was very disappointed.

SBPCI is its driver。。As long as it can be driven successfully under pure MS-DOS 7.10 and produce sound, that means there is no problem with the driver.
