Question: can the IMG file in the Super MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk be used directly as the boot image file when burning a bootable CD?

Of course. Many people have already done it this way.

There is an error message on the burned boot disk

This is how I used NERO to burn it:
1. Select CDROM (Boot)
2. Select the image file ...\ms71bd\msdos710.img
3. Start burning

The steps don't seem to be wrong, so why does the burned disc show this message? My motherboard is 845G

Disk I/O error
Replace the disk ,and then press any key
Boot from CD
1.HD system Type-(0F)
Nero Boot loader V3.

Then do as wglwx said: first extract the IMG and then burn it.

You absolutely have to use WinImage first to convert the Img file into an Ima file before you can use NERO to burn it into a bootable CD!
I ran into the same problem as you before too!
This is how I solved it!

Haha, I found the reason!!
Burning directly with IMA or IMG is completely workable!

Really? I don't have this problem when using diskemu, though.

Before making a bootable CD, first check whether that IMG is 1,474,560 bytes. If it is smaller than this, then it is a compressed IMG. Use WINIMAGE or HD-COPY to read this file, then save out a new uncompressed IMG and that will do.

Quick, tell us, how did you do it? I've run into the same situation as you, and my machine doesn't have a floppy drive. I've already wasted quite a few CDs. Let me learn from you.

I used the one I downloaded directly, and didn't find any problem
