Rage
Why
At dusk yesterday
I happened to run into her
Letting her slender jade hand
Be held by that loser
Smiling sweetly, chatting and glancing all around
Radiant and spirited, stepping lightly as if on ripples
Her beautiful eyes brimming with deep affection
Just like the year before last when she was with me on the lakeside path
Whispering in my ear and confiding in me the very same way
Now when she sees me she does not even nod, as if I were a total stranger
I find I still can't forget the old love, all six spirits in disarray
My eyes go blank, my feet take root, my heart feels as if it were being boiled in broth
A man as outstanding as me, and she always said I was too rustic
That bumpkin looks disgusting and acts vulgar, yet she loves his rudeness
Girls really are impossible to figure out; the more I think about it the more confused I get
I know perfectly well she and I were not suited to each other, and I want to forget her and start a new stove
But in the end it's all just something that cannot be cut apart, and the more you sort it out the messier it gets; nothing helps
Brother, I've grown this big and never been afraid of anyone, yet I fell over this one
Looks like I must have owed her a lot of money in a previous life; if I'd known it'd be like this I never should have tangled with her
Running into her was just my bad luck; next time no matter what I have to find a gentle girl to be with
At last I understand that in this world beauty can't be eaten as food, and often only leaves you burdened and embarrassed
From now on I'll be steady and earnest, diligent and conscientious, modest and prudent, polite to others, and protect public property
Remember when crossing the road to look both ways, use the pedestrian crosswalk, if you want prosperity have fewer children and plant more trees
Turn grief into strength, study hard while always being ready to help develop the great western part of our motherland
A real man need not worry about having no wife; without you I may be lonely, but at least from now on I won't let one leaf block my view
This has also made me reflect carefully on why I failed, sum up experience and lessons, and continue exploring the revolutionary road
I will meet a good girl and chase her like mad, think of her, love her, and never let her go, no matter whether she was born in the Year of the Tiger or the Rabbit

This ambitious young man is a good comrade; though heartbroken, he has not become listless or given himself up, quite possessing a man's bearing
Instead he has sharpened his eyes, stirred up his fighting spirit, and carried out a profound exposure of her ugly conduct and despicable face
Although he encountered a modern-day female Chen Shimei and was heartlessly abandoned, he did not blame fate or complain
Once again proving the penetrating thesis that class struggle will continue to exist for a long time within a certain scope
He has looked ahead to the basic road of the primary stage: the revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still need to work hard
What is especially commendable is that this comrade has seriously reflected on himself and reached deep into his soul
Recognizing that those lakeside walks in the past were the grave mistake of petty-bourgeois sentimentality
He almost allowed himself to be misled by a pretty outward appearance and fell for the usual sugar-coated-bullet trick
Integrating theory with practice, after painful reflection he finally woke as if from a dream and realized he had almost lost his way
Beauty can't be eaten as food; beauty is not essence, not the whole of revolution
Though the language is plain, it reflects the sincere understanding of an ambitious young man
The criticism and self-criticism are deeply moving, truly words from the bottom of his heart
And he has even begun to nurture the lofty ambition of cultivating himself, regulating the family, governing the state, and bringing peace to all under heaven
This shows a repeated line of thought moving from this to that, from the surface to the inside
How can an outstanding young man like him be called rustic
Clearly it is that merely pretty woman who has eyes but cannot see
There are fragrant flowers everywhere at the ends of the earth; beauty need not be questioned for origin
A good horse does not eat the grass it has turned back to; do not cast vain looks at old love
A rabbit does not eat grass by its own burrow, thinking instead of three burrows
Within a hundred paces there are bound to be countless fragrant grasses
Perhaps one day she will become a discarded wife
Only then will she remember your good points
And come back to pour out her feelings to you again
But by then it will all be too late
You too will have your day
Dismiss her with contempt
Ignore her
Act cool
Cool
