MenuetOS is a 32-bit graphical operating system developed in spare time by the British software engineer Mike Hibbett using x86 assembly language! It is small and compact, fits on a single floppy disk, has a gorgeous interface, and can handle text editing, playing CD music, image browsing, MIDI and WAV playback, displaying the time, and even some built-in mini-games! It runs stably and is free! Recommended download! ^_^

When operating systems are mentioned, especially graphical operating systems, people always think of Windows or Linux, which easily run to hundreds of megabytes or even over a gigabyte. In fact, anyone who has studied operating system principles knows that implementing a simple operating system does not require that much code at all (though of course you should not expect this kind of operating system to do too much).

The free MENUET is just such a simple operating system. Most surprising of all is that this operating system, designed specifically to be installed on a single 1.44-inch floppy disk, can actually provide a graphical user interface. This 32-bit operating system written in assembly language has the characteristics of a clear structure, ease of programming, speed, and stability. MENUET is still under development at present, and only has a few simple functions, such as a CD player. In summary, its functions and features include:
·Graphical interface, supporting up to 16-bit true color and 1280x1024 resolution
·True multitasking and multithreading
·Suitable for a single 1.44MB floppy disk
·Provides programming support for the C language
·A full-featured window system, etc.

MenuetOS is based on the GNU/Linux kernel. But I don't think it's as useful as FreeDOS+Qube yet.

MenuetOS is based on GNU, but MenuetOS is not based on the Linux kernel.....
