I downloaded FreeDOS Beta8 (not FreeDOS Beta8 H1) and I don't know what the difference is between them..
So I deleted my previous systems and planned to install FREEDOS. Who knew I wouldn't know how to install it.
Can someone write out the installation method? Thanks!!

FreeDOS Beta8 H1 is currently the latest version of FreeDOS (released this September), that is, an updated version of the FreeDOS Free8 release that came out this June. I run FreeDOS installed on a floppy disk; the method is to expand the FreeDOS disk image file onto a floppy with LOADDSKF and boot from it. Teacher Mo may also have installed FreeDOS on a hard disk before, using FreeDOS's installer, so for the specific hard disk installation method, let's have Teacher Mo explain it!

I downloaded the freedos CDROM image, which can directly boot and install FREEDOS. I actually haven't used the floppy version. I basically don't use floppies anymore.

CDROM version download link: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/ripcord/beta8h01/fdbootcd.zip
Size is 39M. I recommend that anyone who can should download this version; it can run directly from the CD without installation.

Same here!
I also started installing from the CDROM. But after installing, it just can't boot again from the hard disk~
Can you talk about your method? Thanks, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could it be that your C drive partition wasn't made active?

Yes~ it was active! I simply can't get it installed at all!1
I think there's a problem with the file I downloaded.
First I boot with an MS-DOS boot disk, format drive C as FAT32 / make drive C active.
Then install from the CD-ROM.
After entering... there are choices. I chose 2.. the FAT 32 FREEDOS installation. Then there are another four choices. I chose 1 (I also tried 2, 3, and 4), then it asks you. 1: install. 2: return to DOS. 3: create boot disk. 4: read installation file. R: REBOOT
Of course I chose 1 / after going in, I chose the language. Then it gives you a big installation document to read. After reading it, it says the installation is complete! But I feel like it didn't really install anything at all. Drive C just got an FDOS folder, with only a few files in it..
Why is that?!

You'd have to look at it specifically to know clearly. I installed FREEDOS for over 1 hour, and in the end I still felt bad for the CD-ROM drive, so I CUT it before it was fully installed. But it really can be used.

Learn how to ask questions first.
Then we can talk.
Change your post's title to something better.
In the future, posts with this kind of title will probably meet only one of these three fates:
1。No one will bother with it. (This is the best case.)
2。It gets moved to the off-topic section.
3。It gets deleted.
