Before posting, everyone should take a good look at the posting requirements.

If you just want to chatter, then post in the chatter section!
Before posting, first think about which board it should go in!!
Since all kinds of technical topics may be interconnected, you may run into cases where you don't know which board a post belongs in.
Then pick the board you think is the closest fit and post it there, but don't post the same thing repeatedly!! Posting the same thread once in every board will make people think you're causing trouble!!

When you have a question, use the search function first.
If you want to learn more knowledge, the first thing you need to learn is how to learn!!!
I've found that everyone has no interest in threads like "The Wisdom of Asking Questions," "Posting Rules," and "Posting Requirements."
But those threads really do help the quality of your questions!
Learning how to ask questions is very important!!
It isn't easy to raise a good question,
and it also isn't easy to raise a question in a good way, with a good description.
People who can raise good questions in a good way will earn other people's respect!!
Just like people who can answer questions well will also earn other people's respect!!

Before asking, use the search function first. Maybe someone asked this kind of question before, and maybe someone already answered it.
Repeatedly raising questions that already had answers before is very irritating!!!!

When you're sure you want to ask, pay attention to choosing a good title first!
Urgent! Experts please come in! I have a question! Strange thing! Help! Please help me! Waiting online! Lost! Feeling miserable!
Titles like these simply cannot accurately express the problem you've run into!
And besides, when I see this kind of title I want to delete it!!! Because people who write this kind of title give me no more than these impressions:
One, lazy! Unwilling to think for themselves!! Just waiting for others to give the answer...
Two, dumb! Doesn't know how to ask a question, and if you go to the trouble of clicking into his (her) post, the problem inside is mostly the kind that can't be solved at all (because the description is too simple, you have no way to know what problem he ran into). And even if you do know what he is asking, and you also know the answer, you still can't explain it clearly in just a few words! Very often, once you answer this question, it brings even more questions. I don't think anyone wants to be an elementary school teacher, right?
Three, the attitude won't be good! Because he (she) simply takes it for granted that others should give him (her) the answer. When others don't give him (her) an answer, he (she) becomes very dissatisfied! If you criticize him (her), he (she) will think you're acting like some expert, arrogant, thinking you're great, and prejudiced against people who are just starting out, and then he (she) will turn around and argue with you about that. I don't think anyone wants to invite that kind of trouble, right?

By the time I've written this much, I guess some people reading it will be cursing me already... But this really is how I truly feel. If by bad luck you just happen to be one of the people who is used to writing this kind of title, and you think I don't respect you, then first give me a reason why I should respect you!!! I have always respected people who know how to ask questions. If you want me to respect you, first learn how to ask questions!!

After choosing a good title, the content of the post is also very important!
Because of the character limit on titles, it's impossible to explain the problem clearly there. That means you need to explain it in detail in the post.
As for how to explain it clearly, I've already said enough...
If you're still not clear on it, you can search for posts I've made...
Lately it seems I've been writing this kind of boring issue all the time.
It seems some people just don't know how to use the search function.
So I'll say it once again here.
Your problem, your environment (including hardware and software environment, meaning what kind of machine configuration you're using, what kind of operating system you're using, and what kind of software you're using), your usage process (sometimes your operating steps are also very useful information... for solving your problem), and the guesses and attempts you've already made (describing this lets other people know 1. you are not lazy, and you did think about this problem yourself. 2. how much knowledge you have in this area. That way others will be willing to help you, and will know how to help you. If it isn't clear how much you actually understand, it's very hard for others to know how to explain things so that you'll understand!! But guesses are not random wild speculation; don't make boundless guesses. This kind of groundless guessing will only make people think 1. you don't understand anything. 2. and you still like to pretend you do.)
Basically, if you explain these aspects clearly when you ask, the chances of other people helping you will be greatly increased!! (Unless nobody understands the problem.) Remember: not every question is something others understand! That way, when you see nobody answering your question, you'll feel a bit better, hehe...

Let me stress this yet again:
Spend a little effort learning how to find answers and how to ask questions!!!
If you aren't even willing to spend this little bit of effort, then I doubt how much effort you're really willing to spend learning DOS (or other knowledge)!

We respect people who know how to ask questions!!!

If everyone just wants to chatter, then you can post here (the chatter section).
I'm the moderator in the chatter section, so of course I welcome everyone to come flood this place with chatter! Hehe...

Note: if next time (when I'm in a good mood) I find posts in other boards that qualify as chatter, I'll most likely move them to the chatter section!
When that happens, don't say I'm stealing posts, hehe...

You're a moderator, right?
Impressive! Good thing I've never asked any questions, because I don't know how to ask questions either~

It's great to have power, I'm so jealous...

People without power don't know the pain of those who have it...
If you have power and don't use it, people say you're neglecting your duty...
If you use your power, people say you're abusing your authority...
Hehe... in the end it's just like they say in A Chinese Odyssey.
Every day when I get up and look in the mirror, I have to shout: Pig...

Hehe...
What you're saying does make a lot of sense, but... the tone, maybe...?
Because I feel (just my personal opinion) that you could sticky a "Posting Notice" or "Posting Instructions" thread in every board. Whether people are willing to follow it is a matter of personal character, or you could say personal habit. Problems like this are very common on every forum, and are almost the most troublesome thing for moderators everywhere. It's possible that this one thread of yours may have some tiny effect, but I dare say the negative impact probably won't be small either, right?
On the Internet, trying to change a person's habits or morals is just too hard!

Still, you're quite a responsible moderator. Not bad, I'll support you on this!

I come here often, but I rarely post (because the chatter atmosphere here isn't very lively), but I haven't just been a guest either (I remember you had a thread specially "welcoming" guests last time).

If I've said anything disrespectful, please forgive this little sister for being rude~

That depends on how a person reasonably uses their authority.

The one moderator I admire the most here is: wenger!

wenger knows DOS very well, and also has a gentle temperament.

This moderator truly deserves the position!

Xixi, even posting a "Posting Instructions" or "Posting Notice" thread is useless~~
Because the number of people who read it is tiny~~
If you want to solve this kind of problem, the only way is for moderators to use their authority to regulate it~~
But if a post gets deleted, they may get unhappy, and that may affect the forum's reputation~~
It's really a dilemma~~
You want to manage the forum atmosphere well~~
But you're also afraid of affecting the forum's reputation~~

Actually, deleting posts doesn't seem like the best solution either.

For example, if you delete my post, I can post it on some other forum. Not every forum can have requirements as strict as yours (I'm just making an analogy here, I hope nobody gets angry after reading this, because I'm only stating a fact). And if that doesn't work, I can just never come to your forum again—what can you do to me? Or I could register another ID and come in to stir up a little trouble or something, right?

I feel the best solution is this: if someone posts a thread with the kind of irregular title the OP mentioned, then nobody should pay attention to it, and no one should even click on it. Let the person who posted it think about the reason for themselves. After a few times like that, you don't offend anyone, and the poster also understands a lot more. Then they won't do it again in the future. What do you all think?
