My system is WinXP Home Edition. I want to flash the firmware of my DVD-ROM drive, and it needs to be done in a pure DOS environment. Under 98, you can boot into pure MS-DOS 7.10 with "Command Prompt Only". How can I get into pure DOS mode under XP? Is it enough to boot with a Win98 boot disk? Thanks.

I don't need to make it a dual boot with DOS and XP. If I boot with a Win98 boot disk, is that pure DOS mode?

Very simple! A Win98 boot disk or the moderator's boot disk will both work!
