I wrote MBR on the USB flash drive with grubutil, copied GRLDR from CHINESE in grub4dos-0.4.3 to the USB flash drive. When booting, it says it can't find GRLDR and asks me to press CTRL+ALT+EDL. But I clearly copied GRLDR to the USB flash drive..

All used software are the latest.

Try to install under DOS with bootlace and see how it goes?

All software used are the latest.

Vague. The meaning of "latest" is quite various: the latest official release version (0.4.3), and the latest test version. It should be accurate to state the release date of the software.

I am using grub4dos - 0.4.3 - 2007 - 12 - 14 and grubutil - 1.1 - bin - w32 - 19. After writing the MBR, I copied GLDER to the USB flash drive and said there was no GRLDR. After writing with the old nine 911 version of GRUBGUI, changing GRLDR to MTLDR can find it. I don't know the reason.

It's really strange. There's no problem on another XP machine, and it passed the test in VM. Is there a bug in GRRBGUI under VISTA?

Thanks to Master Budian's great work, it's very easy to use. Especially the new version can directly load ISO. That's indescribably wonderful.

Testing on the host does not read the USB flash drive. Only approached XP

Dizzy, tested successfully on another machine configured in 2003.

Still need to look at the motherboard

Ask a question, without clicking, the motherboard supports USB booting, does it mean that the USB flash drive doesn't need to write MBR, as long as the USB flash drive has GLDER, it can boot?

You can not write MBR. But you need at least one boot method, such as boot to DOS, then load grub.exe in autoexec.bat (there should be grldr in the root directory). Or boot to NT, load "c:\grldr=grub4dos" in boot.ini (there should be grldr in the root directory)

Running grub.exe under DOS does not require grldr
